Lace up your trainers and join us for one of the highlights of our summer running calendar — a relaxed, chatty evening run around the beautiful Hawley Lake.
The Details
- Date: Thursday 14th May
- Time: 7:00 PM
- Meet & Finish: Crown and Cushion, Minley Road, GU17 9UA
- Distance: 6 miles
- Led by: Graham K
What to Expect
This is designed to be a social run, not a coached speed-work session — think conversation, fresh air, and that golden evening light bouncing off the water! We’ll follow a scenic 6-mile loop around Hawley Lake, taking in the woodland trails and lakeside paths that make this one of the most picturesque routes on our doorstep.
All paces welcome. The whole point of a social run is that nobody gets left behind, so come along whatever your usual pace — we’ll regroup, chat, and enjoy the evening together.
Meeting Point
We’re meeting at the Crown and Cushion pub on Minley Road (GU17 9UA), which gives us easy access to the lake and — conveniently — a friendly pub to finish at. Anyone who fancies a post-run drink is more than welcome to stick around afterwards.
Parking
Last year we had issues with car parking at the pub… it can be quite busy… so the route has been designed to go to the lake via where the Yacht club is (Google Map Link here, and postcode for SatNav: GU17 9EZ) and where there is lots more car parking. So if you can’t find parking at the pub, just park at the lake and we will pick you up around 7:10 – 7:15 pm. It’s just under a mile into the run.
What to Bring
- Trail-friendly shoes (the paths can be uneven in places)
- A head torch isn’t needed in May, but worth keeping in mind for later in the summer
- Your club kit if you’ve got it
Hope to see you there!
