The Yateley 10k has become a very popular race for Hart Road Runner members, and is now a firm fixture of the summer racing scene.
We had a brilliant turnout at all 3 events this year with some cracking performances and a lovely sense of the team coming together and supporting each other both with running together to help achieve personal targets, cheering each other on and taking photos.
There were several PBs including Nick Emmett, Lynne Rashleigh and Jemma Park and Nick Silvester ran his fastest 10k for a few years!
Team HRR also collected several age category top 3 placings, top of the pile was Ruth Briggs who won her age category in every race!! Also placing was Nick Silvester, Jemma Park, Jon Cross, Andy Le Roux and Heather Alan.
Then over the series we had wins in 3 age categories – Lucie Lawton, Ruth Briggs and Nick Silvester and Paul Burger was 3rd!
The route changed this year with a new start/finish point at Yateley Football clubhouse in Sean Devereux Park. The first race in the series included a long wiggly windy section through a small park but after feedback it was removed and replaced with an out and back section. Winding through the quiet roads of Yateley, there’s just enough undulation to keep things interesting, and the atmosphere is always buzzing — from the busy race village to the cheers of locals lining the streets.
For many, the draw is the chance to test yourself three times over the season, to see if the training is paying off, or simply to enjoy a summer’s evening doing what we love most: running in good company.
A final point, and one to note for next year, is the clubhouse that serves food and drink – this would be a great place for a well deserved post-race team drink next year!
