Community Evening Run, Thursday 30th October
UPDATE: what a fantastic turnout for the first of our #LetsLiftTheCurfew runs from Hart Road Runners, Fleet & Crookham AC, Blackwater Valley Runners, and She Strides. It was great to see so many runners from clubs across our area training together (and drinking together afterwards in the pub!).
Almost three-quarters (72%) of women in the UK change their outdoor activity routines during winter... the Let’s Lift the Curfew movement is calling for that to end.
Hart Road Runners are proud to join forces with Fleet & Crookham Athletics Club, Blackwater Valley Runners, She Strides for “Let’s Lift the Curfew” – a national initiative supported by England Athletics and This Girl Can. It highlights the barriers many women and girls face when running outdoors in the dark.
For a lot of women, heading out for an evening run can come with an unspoken curfew — shaped by safety concerns, lack of confidence, or simply not wanting to run alone. As a running community, we want to help change that.
By coming together for a mixed group evening run, we aim to make our streets feel safer, more welcoming, and more inclusive for everyone.
📍 Meeting point: Prince of Wales, Fleet
🕖 Start time: 7:00pm, Thursday 30th October
🏃♀️ Run type: Fartlek / relaxed intervals — all paces welcome
🌙 Nobody left behind – we will group back regularly
The Strava routes are below, and you can download GPX files for your Garmins etc here:
This run is open to runners of all abilities and backgrounds. If you’ve ever hesitated about running after dark — this is a chance to run together, build confidence, and enjoy the support of a friendly community.
Let’s show what it looks like when we lift each other up, support one another, and reclaim our shared running spaces.
We’d love to see you there 🌙💛
Start at Prince of Wales Pub:
